About
Founded in 1998 by Anurupa Roy, Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust is a pioneering puppet theatre company based in Delhi. The group creates deeply expressive performances using puppets as tools of storytelling and social engagement.

Katkatha has performed at major festivals across India and abroad, collaborating with artists in Israel, France, Taiwan, Austria, Iran, and more. With a strong emphasis on artistic rigor and innovation, the company produces both child-centric and socially reflective performances that speak across cultures.
The Journey
Anurupa Roy, trained in Stockholm and France, has directed and designed puppets for hundreds of performances globally. Her work spans theatre, health education, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. Katkatha’s performances are visually rich and layered with social commentary, making them both entertaining and thought-provoking. The company also supports young artists through internships, residencies, and intensive training programs that uphold the tradition and advance the evolution of puppetry in India.
